Hydropolis is a place where diverse multimedia technologies, interactive installations, faithful replicas and models, as well as touch screens providing extensive information, serve one purpose – to show water from various fascinating perspectives.
Hydropolis was opened in December 2015. It is Poland’s only facility of this kind and one of very few worldwide – the exhibition is located in a historic, 19th century underground pure water tank covering a floor area of 4,000 m².
Panorama of the Battle of Racławice – the historical painting present the Battle of Racławice in April 1794, in which Poles won over Russians. The monumental picture is 114m long and 15m high.
The technology applied by the authors can be compared to the contemporary 3D technology. Special, panoramic perspective, lighting and scenography constructed in front of the picture make it look multidimensional.
During the visit, the viewers can listen to the history of the painting and the events presented in 16 languages (including Korean, Japanese, Croatian and Esperanto). For blind people there is an audio description available.
Sightseeing city by antique tourist tram „Jaś i Małgosia”.
The tram run between the centre and Centennial Hall (Hala Stulecia). For a part of a day the trams run around the monuments of Rynek and its surroundings. A professional guide talks about the history of these places during the course.
